Welcome to TITs - Tom's International Travels
Although I am very fond of that part of the female anatomy, this site contains no pictures of female breasts, however, I am sure I will achieve my objective by having named it such - that you will always remember this site by its name, even if you forget the content.

TIT Enhancement!

Our previous address was getting too small, so I bought my own domain and moved in.

The old address had 20Mb space available for us.  TITs is about 19Mb.
This new address has 500Mb available.  TITs will be growing soon to fill the space.

Just like going from a B-cup to a DDD, but a lot cheaper!

ONE UNFORGETTABLE TRIP TO LAOS
What is a Toyota, and what is a Sequoia?

I spent pretty much the entire month of April in Laos, and have many photos and memories as my reward.  Unfortunately, I have hit my quota on this server, and can only post a few pics here.  TITs will soon get a TIT enhancement, meaning that I will bite the bullet and pony up the extra cash to buy more web-space.  In the meantime, here are what I some of my best photos out of the many I took during this unforgettable trip to Laos.

I had to rent a motorcycle to really get to the scenic places off the beaten path.

I had not ridden much before, but this was turning out to be a lot of fun!

The Plain of Jars, a major tourist attraction, on the beaten path.
And on the bombed-out path too, literally.  Best to stay ON the beaten path,
in order to avoid American UXO (Unexploded Ordnance) from the Vietnam War era.

Off the beaten path in a minority tribes village.  In the wicker basket
is the woman's baby, which she straps on her back while running
errands through the village.

With no plastic contraptions to play on in a city park,
local children make do balancing on a bamboo pole.

Ask these Children what they want for Christmas.  I will give you a hint:
There is no electricity, no plumbing, no toilet, no medicine, no doctor, no transportation,
no school, no telephone, no radio, no TV, and so on.  There are no shops whatsoever.

With nothing to covet, there is also no crime, and hence no police.
The nearest town with a few stores is 2 hours' drive on dirt road.

Welcome to Baan Hoksip Kaao.  (In English, "Village 69")

The male townsfolk were very interested in my rented red Chinese motorcycle,
while my friend's Russian Minsk on the right did not attract as many stares.
A real man's dream in "Village 69" is to one day have his own 100cc bike,
but as to this day, nobody has been able to afford the $600 USD price-tag.

My dear readers back in the West, how about a
2008 Toyota Sequoia, starting at only $34,150 USD?

 Hegemony or Survival Book Cover

A Quick Literary Recommendation

I usually don't make political statements on this website, but here is a book that I began reading a few days ago.  With every page I turned, I was more and more shocked.

For those of you, especially in North America,  who believe what the media has been feeding you all your lives, and are convinced about the goodwill of the USA (excluding the actions in Iraq of course), then I strongly recommend that you read this book.

Did you know that America used terrorism in Latin America to achieve it's political objectives? You will learn how such actions have killed thousands during your lifetime.  American-backed terrorists had actually carried out attacks on Cuban targets in the 1970's.  Certain nations have been plunged into abject poverty as a result of American backed political parties running their countries in a manner favourable to US economic interests.

Did you know that on October 27, 1962, a man named Vasili Arkhipov saved the world?  It was only revealed in 2002 that this Soviet submarine officer blocked the order to fire nuclear-armed torpedoes while under attack by US destroyers during the Cuban Missle Crisis.

This is news to you, because it has never made it into your history books, at least in the West.  Written by an American author, "Hegemony or Survival" is a book that will fill the gaps.  It is not an easy read, and the less educated will not understand the complex logic and sentence structures, which I think may have been done deliberately, in order to keep the working-class Americans from rising up.

Skull and Bones
Alone, in the tundra, at an unknown tomb in Kangerlusuaq,Greenland

This page is dedicated to those who are driven by the curiosity of what is beyond their doorstep, or should I say, beyond the borders of their own country.  It is the combination of such curiosity, passion, and the bravery that has driven mankind to explore and map this planet.  Mankind is still exploring and mapping new territory, however we have moved beyond our planet to others in our solar system.

If your idea of a trip is a packaged tour to a resort where you will be waited on hand and foot, then click your browser's back button because this site will not interest you.  Travel for exploration and adventure is considered work by the average person, and if you are one, then why read about something as unpleasant as work?

If you have stumbled upon this page because your ideas of travel are similar to mine, then please read on.  Although we can not all be astronauts or explore uncharted territory, we can still explore territory that is uncharted for us.  Books and other sources of information remove much or the uncertainty of our destinations, but there is no book or TV program will give us the full experience of exploring for ourselves.

It is in these pages that I am documenting my past, present, and future sojourns into lands far away.  Hopefully my  experiences may even arouse enough interest in your curious mind to make a few trips yourself, other than those taken from your armchair watching the National Geographic Channel.

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.
