I made to to the far north city of Hanoi by train.  The weather here is a bit cooler and damp, very much like Ottawa in the late spring/early summer, and I'm not to keen on returning to Bangkok's stifling heat, roaring traffic, and carcinogenic smog.

Being so close to China, the atmosphere is beginning to feel very Oriental.  I must say that Cambodia and Thailand are not exactly good examples of the Orient.  It's more of a mix of East Indian and Western culture.  Last week I rented a tiny motorbike in Hue and drove out of the city with a couple I met from Montreal to visit the mausoleums of two past emperors of Viet Nam.  It was a nice drive, although the city traffic was quite harrowing.  I have about one week left in Vietnam,  and most of it will be spent in the nature, as opposed to staying in cities as I have until now.

The cameras are getting a good breaking-in, and I'll be sharing pictures with you all in a few weeks.
